Chinese New Year 2008 steamboat …

The first Chinese New Year weekend has past and today is on its fifth day. Mee and I officially celebrated our Chinese New Year yesterday with steamboat in the afternoon and ‘chikutteh’ at night. Mee had already cooked ‘chikutteh’ the night before and originally planned to use the soup for steamboat the next day. However, she decided not to the next day morning after my haircut. Instead, she cooked another clear vegetables soup with carrots and anchovies for the steamboat.

Speaking of my haircut, Mee had been cutting my hair and yesterday was the third time since we moved to our newly rented room. Well, it’s definitely a way of saving money and it’s still a trial and error in the process. It took almost 1 hour for the first time and gradually reduced on the second and the third time.

Parents and sister trip to Vietnam …

Two hours later, dad, mom and sis will be off to Singapore and then Vietnam. Hope that they have a nice journey and made use of my sis’ new camera. And then I can publish it in this blog. Also, I hope that my bros’ had been taking pictures these few days as well, as I was envy when Mee showed me her family photos yesterday. Hahaha…

As of today, I received a notification of training; one will start at 2.30pm today which will last for 1 hour and another one will be on the 18th February. Next month, I will be having another training session with my manager at Capita, Kemble.

Today is Friday and I take things a bit easy; not like previous day where I don’t even have time to blog on Wednesday. It’s hot and sunny now. Mee was surprisingly early yesterday as she only stayed at Colindale for about 30 minutes because the facial staff suggested her to go again next weekday. Anyway, it’s good that she came home early because buses are not that frequent after 6pm.

I tried to install Need for Speed: Carbon but one of the files was corrupted. I didn’t have the time to check through and will leave it until tomorrow or later. I then installed Test Drive: Unlimited. I briefly played and felt that it is totally a different game from Need for Speed. Till then, I am not used to the control. It is different from PSP version as well. Maybe I should get a steering wheel for it. Not sure whether Mee will approve it or not but I won’t get it any sooner.

In addition, I watched Heroes: Season 2; my favorite TV series. It’s a bit different as I watched the whole Season 1 on my PSP aka small screen. But yesterday, I watched the first episode on my 19” Wide Screen monitor. Final verdict, I prefer Heroes to Lost; because sometimes I almost fell asleep watching Lost and I have not finished Season 1.

It’s also my sister birthday today, so I would like to say Happy Birthday to You !!!

1st Day of Chinese New Year 2008 …

Happy Chinese New Year !!!!

Mee and I did not have a sumptuous dinner yesterday even though it’s the eve of Chinese New Year. However, I did force her to buy 2 pieces of salmon. After dinner, I had peanuts which I bought at Colindale the other day and shared a can of coke with Mee.

We watched HKDrama: Dicey Business till late night because I wanted to call home at midnight which would be around 8am Malaysia time. They were all getting ready for Lion dance performance because this year, my dad requested the Lion dance group to perform, hoping that it would bring good luck to our family. I managed to talk to my family members excluding my sister because she was in the room while my brother doesn’t know what she was doing. The last person that I talked to, was my father and he comforted me that I would have the chance next year anyway; and I could hear my mom, telling my father to ask me to go to sleep as it was about 1am and I got to work today.

While I was talking, Mee did her talking as well. She was chatting away with her best friend; Wai Yee. She seemed to have tried every method; from MSN to Skype and ended up using the Skype function on my mobile in order to chat with Wai Yee. And it wasn’t that clear, maybe it’s due to the reception of 3network which is not that good in our area.

Soon after that, Mee called her family and they talked until 2am. Nowadays, her mom likes to participate in singing competition and she is getting hotter and hotter as she won numerous trophies. And recently she got 1st in a singing competition but complained that the rewarding was too little. Anyway, her purpose of competing in singing competition is to live her life to the fullest and make friends as well. Coincidentally, Mee did not manage to talk to her sis because she was still sleeping.

Anyhow, anyway, it’s a Happy New Year for everyone; especially for the Chinese.

Two days ago, I had managed to complete Need for Speed: Most Wanted and became the Most Wanted Driver. Right now, I will only play the challenge series and might install Need for Speed: Carbon on Saturday.

Today, Mee will be back home late coz she planned to go to Colindale after her class. She felt that she did not get a good facial wash on Sunday and thus, decided to head back there. Hope that she will reach home early.

Pancake Day …

Everyone is talking about the Pancake Day. It’s today. Well, this is the first time I ever heard of it. Not even last year. It’s a day for family gathering. I believe it’s something like when my family used to have ‘popiah’ one a year. But it doesn’t last only for a day. It last almost a week. ‘Popiah’ is quite similar to pancake except the ingredients are sauces and vegetables. It’s nice because we can make our own ‘popiah‘ with as much ingredients as we want, and most importantly, we can exclude some sauces or ingredients which we don’t like. Anyway, I prefer ‘popiah’ than pancake.

It’s been windy and raining. My condition right now is busy and many things to think.

Earlier, I received a wedding invitation from my colleague. It will be held on the March. I doubt that I would be able to attend because it’s on Saturday evening and I will have to escort Mee to and from work.

And then the Social Committee is organizing a Real Ale Train; 2 round trips from Alton – Alresford – Alton. It will be quite a good experience though because the trip is about having Ale on a traditional steam train. I’ve seen it before at London Victoria station and have always wondered why such train appear in the middle of dozens of modern trains. Though its steam train, the interior is nicely decorated. I doubt that I would be able to go as the trip is on Saturday from 7:30pm to 10:30pm.

Oriental City, Colindale …

Weekend came and went just like that. I did not even have the time to leave any mark on my blog. In fact, I did have time, maybe lazy. It was 1739 in Malaysia and my sis was supposed to reach airport at 0700, thus, she should have reached hometown by now unless my 2nd bro has to do some stuff at KL after fetching her.

This is the second time where I did not celebrate Chinese New Year in Malaysia. Not that I miss it, just that it shows how fast time flies. Hopefully, I will be able to join my family next Chinese New Year. Right now, I will have to work hard and save money. On Saturday, I managed to get enough of bounty to challenge the top blacklist. I had even won all the required races and the final stage is to drive away from hot police pursuit at level 6 on BMW M3. I lasted the pursuit for about 5 mins and I was told by the game to drive to a marked destination on the map and fly off the bridge. Sadly, the game stalled when the car was about to fly off the road. Well, guess I will have to try it again this Saturday.

On Sunday, Mee and I went to Colindale. It’s in London and I think it’s on zone 5 or 6. I didn’t bother to check it out. Well, there’s a Oriental City there where most of the traders are from China and Malaysia. I had Penang Prawn Noodle and Mee had what she always ordered, Nasi Lemak Biasa. And because the prawn noodle was hot and spicy, I ordered a Pineapple Crush for drink. It’s more like a ice-blended pineapple. We spent about £17 for our lunch. We can’t say it’s expensive because we can hardly find that kind of food anywhere else. The whole journey took about one and a half hour. 55 mins on train and 40 mins on Tube.

It’s hot and sunny now while it’s freezing cold this morning. We started another HKDrama yesterday; Dicey Business. The story looks funny and hopefully it will continue that way because it’s 35 episodes long.

Flying Alarm Clock …

Today is the first day of February. It should be filled with energetic atmosphere yet today is also the much anticipated Friday. One of my colleague is on leave because of back pain while another one is on half day. This is so not encouraging.

It is hot and sunny right now. I just had my lunch and felt even hotter because I’d eaten a spicy bean quarter-pounder. It was nice though. Today, I overslept and jumped off my bed at 712am. I normally wake up at 700am and that’s 12 minutes loss. I slept around 12 midnight yesterday and it should be the reason. Well, how I wish that I could get my hand on this alarm clock.

It is called the ‘Flying Alarm Clock’. First of all, the alarm is loud; as described. Then the helicopter blade-like will fly off when the alarm starts. In order to turn off the alarm, you have to either catch the blade and put it back to its base or take out the batteries. £18.99 each.
