Earth Hour 2008 …

On the 29th March 2008 from 8pm to 9pm, it’s the Earth Hour 2008. Have you signed up yet? If you haven’t, hurry up then.

Quoted from the website.

“On March 31 2007, for one hour, Sydney made a powerful statement about the greatest contributor to global warming – coal-fired electricity – by turning off its lights. Over 2.2 million Sydney residents and over 2,100 businesses switched off, leading to a 10.2% energy reduction across the city. What began as one city taking a stand against global warming caught the attention of the world.

In 2008, 24 global cities will participate in Earth Hour at 8pm on March 29. Earth Hour is the highlight of a major campaign to encourage businesses, communities and individuals to take the simple steps needed to cut their emissions on an ongoing basis. It is about simple changes that will collectively make a difference – from businesses turning off their lights when their offices are empty, to households turning off appliances rather than leaving them on standby.”

So, you should know what you should be doing at that time, shouldn’t you?

Well, I am experiencing some difficulties navigating the website. There are not many information on the website, just pictures and encouraging people to sign up, get involve and spread the words among friends.

PoV: 28 Weeks Later …

Step 1: Killed the Infected

Step 2: Containment

Step 3: Extermination

These are the words which I remember clearly after watching the film. 28 Weeks Later starts with a group of people preparing and waiting to have their lunch in a cottage in London when a kid banging the door and calling for help. They let the kid in but dozens of infected people come along and break into the cottage.

They try to flee but are killed one by one except Don, who is unable to help his wife, Alice as she is surrounded by the infected in a room.

After 28 weeks, US Army intervenes and starts to clear off the remains while begins repopulating the quarantined city.

Don’s children, Tammy and Andy return to London to live with him but decide to return to their old home with the idea to retrieve some personal belongings. Surprisingly, they find Alice alive inside the house and the Army later brings them back to the base.

Alice is infected but somehow immune to the virus. Don is later infected by Alice and kills everyone in his way. A lot more people are infected and the Army starts to KILL THE INFECTED. The Army then CONTAINED the people but Don finds his way into the containment room and starts his killing spree.

When both fail, US Army proceeds to EXTERMINATION to wipe out the city. At that time, sniper Doyle and major Scarlet help a group of people to escape the EXTERMINATION which includes Tammy and Andy. Scarlet believes both Tammy and Andy hold the genes that are able to cure the virus. Flynn, who is on a helicopter, tries to find a place for them to get on the helicopter while giving Doyle information on the Army activity.

However, Doyle and Scarlet die in the end. Only Tammy and Andy manage to meet Flynn. The next scene shows the crash remains of the helicopter and more infected on the run.

There are many goofs and there seem to not have any story in it. The only interesting part to watch is when Doyle and Scarlet tries to bring Tammy and Andy to safety. It more or less like I Am Legend except the incident only happens in London. Even though the ending provides the source that will lead to part 2, but I do not think that this movie is good enough or interesting to watch.

1/5 Stars

myi4u latest design 90% …

I just completed 90% of myi4u theme. Not yet ready to upload the theme into the actual site, though. So far, I am quite pleased with the design and colors but there are still some adjustments needed to be done.

The weather today is nice and not too cold except in the morning.

I can’t believe what I read today on Metro Newspaper. Jaguar and Land Rover are sold to an Indian Company called Tata for £1billion. I have seen the latest Jaguar on the street and it looks like the combination of Lexus and Ford Mondeo and it looks really nice. How will the name of Jaguar fare after the take over? Apparently, Tata Motors is the manufacturer of Nano, branded as The People’s Car. It is sold for £1,200 with the idea of a car in every family.

I have been asked to complete a job evaluation form which consists of 21 pages long. There are so many things to fill in even though not every questions are related to me as it is aimed to support and teaching staffs altogether. As much as I wanted to take my time doing it, it seems like it is quite urgent and important. Try my best then.

By the end of this week, my manager will become a part-time staff and we will have a change in seats. I will be seated opposite my current place while my colleague will move into the manager place and the manager, who will become a developer, will be in my place. Complicated, huh. Not at all.

The day after Easter …

It’s kind of lazy to wake up this morning after waking up late for straight four days. The bus was late for 10 minutes and that made me nearly late for work.

On Saturday, after Mee finished her work at 1900, we went to Lidl. When we were paying for our items, we were told that the food on the shelves is free because Lidl will be closed for the following two days. So, we took some free potatoes and loaves of bread as with others. It’s heavy but we are happy because we don’t have to buy any bread for few days, maybe weeks. Hehehe …

Yesterday, Mee and I went to town as Mee wanted to have her hair cut. However, most of the hairdressing saloons were closed while the opened ones were fully booked.

Regarding my blog’s design, I still have yet to conclude. Instead, I have my test site ready and will try out some other new layout and designs. And also I have converted the previous test site into a forum. However, I still haven’t got anytime to play around with it.

Snows …

It’s snowing now and then today. Kind of cold and the weather forecast reports -4 Celsius. Just accompany Mee to work and fortunately, she will finish at 7pm rather than 9pm sometimes.

Yesterday, Mee and I spring cleaned our room and it’s dust-free and tidy already. Well, not at all tidy but still, good enough.

Soon, I will be able to transform my flatpress blog design to the latest one as I still need to change and match some of the colors. I have to thank Mee because she helps with the colors selection. Overall, we are quite pleased with the colors and the design.

I plan to move the test site to my blog hosting site as it’s kind of confusing to have both site to test and manage. In addition, I want to convert the test site to a forum as well. Hmm… as for the topic of the forum is still a secret for now and it might not be related to my blog at all.

Now, I need to heat up my lunch that Mee cooked yesterday and enjoy my movie. And not to mention, GAMES … Tara…

Farewell lunch …

One of my colleagues is leaving today. We had a farewell lunch for her at Zizzi yesterday. Nothing much to talk about really coz we are from different department. Anyway, I have just been here for three and a half months. At Zizzi, I ordered Fettucine alla Carbonara. The service left us with a bad impression because the food was cold and we waited for almost one hour to have our food served.

Well, I kind of find this type of gathering is good because it gives us a chance to chat. I don’t usually talk in the office unless necessary. There’s another one tonight but I am not planning to go because I don’t know her much.

As busy as I am with the workload currently, I am still finding ways and trying to change the look of my flatpress blog. I believe that I have already changed about 50% – 60% of the scripts. However, I am just running it from my test site and I will officially use it not until I am satisfied with it.

The previous Tuesday was the opening of new Primark store in Basingstoke. Since then, tons of people are carrying the bags bearing the word ‘Primark’ around town.

Tomorrow is Good Friday and I believe none of the shops in town is opened for business. My colleagues are asking whether I am celebrating it or how do I spend the long holiday. Well, the answer is a simple no and nothing to do. Train services will delay too due to engineering work.

Coming Sunday is the match between Manchester United and Liverpool. One of my colleagues is traveling up to Old Trafford to watch the match from a designated room in the stadium; posh area. Surprisingly, she is a woman.

Just a note to Mee: train workers might go on strike on the 31st March 2008.

The Burger King Sutton which I used to work is closed; God knows when. I know it from the area manager recently because I am trying to collect my final wages which are not paid to me since I left.
