The weather has been good today. Also, the metro newspaper is a little bit thicker than usual. It is quite true about a report yesterday which said that UK people do not know much about what is happening around the world. The whole copy of newspaper only contains two column of foreign news which only takes half a page when combined.
The recent fuel price hike has influenced around the world. This car (picture taken from metro) certainly helps its owner in saving money when parking and traffic jam. This car is a modified Ford Fiesta which costs £6,900.
Recent food poisoning scare has forced Burger King and McDonald to stop serving sliced tomatoes on its sandwiches until they are able to source tomatoes that meet their safety and quality standards. The toll from salmonella-tainted tomatoes has jumped to 228 illnesses as of yesterday. However, it is known that tomatoes with vine still attached are not likely to be the source of outbreak.
Thus, even though I am not traveling to the US end of this month, it is still quite important to have travel health insurance in order to cover any unexpected incident which might ruin anyone’s holiday. Of course, it is definitely the best to have nothing happened but travel health insurance is a way of assurance and protection while enjoying our holiday.
Today is Friday the 13th. According to Wikipedia, Friday the 13th is considered a day of bad luck in English-, French- and Portuguese-speaking countries around the world, as well as other European countries and Philippines. The fear of Friday the 13th is called paraskavedekatriaphobia.
Both the number 13 and Friday have been considered unlucky because in numerology, the number twelve is considered the number of completeness, as reflected in the twelve months of the year, zodiac signs. Thus, the number 13 was considered irregular. As for Friday, it was the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified.
On the other hand, Black Friday has different meaning. Obviously, most people have the wrong idea and mistaken Friday the 13th to be Black Friday. Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day in the United States which signifies one of the busiest shopping days of the year.
I am wearing black now, not purposely, just coincidence. But anyway, it does not represent anything at all.
As I am looking for a laptop for purchase at the end of the year, I find that I am more concern on the amount of memory rather than the processor speed, hard drive space or even the type of optical disk reader. To me, the amount of memory is quite important for the laptop to be multi-tasking. Processors play an important part too but most of the laptops nowadays are equipped with Intel Core 2 duo processors which are able to multi-task efficiently.
If I were to buy Macbook, the 1GB memory worries me a little bit but adding memory are quite easy now because memorysuppliers.com sells all types of memory including Mac memory and also EDO memory. With the right amount of memory, processor speed and hard disk space to handle, even an Asus EEE laptop can perform outstandingly.
