Netbooks war …

As far as I am concern, I have totally abandoned my thought of getting an Apple Macbook. It is near year end and lots of netbooks are on their way to the market. There are Dell Mini, Lenovo S series, Fujitsu Amilo, HP Mini and the popular Asus EEE. I have browsed through all their specifications lately and right at the moment, Lenovo or Asus will most likely be my final purchase.

Dell Mini is pricey and for £299, you get SSD storage of 12GB only. Fujitsu Amilo is pricey too. All the netbooks are equipped with Intel Atom processor except HP Mini which is equipped with VIA processor. As tested by most of gadgets review website, HP Mini does not perform. Lenovo S series will be out in October and hopefully, the price will be competitive to Asus EEE. However, Lenovo S series do not have the option of SSD storage. On the other hand, I read a review on Asus EEE where the reviewer explained that there was no significant increase of speed when using Asus EEE with SSD storage. But the fact is that SSD is more durable than normal hard disk.

All I have to do now is to wait for the brand clash so that I will get a better price in the end.

CDL Training

When I was small, I always hope that I was old enough to drive. The first few years of learning to drive until obtaining my driving license were great. However, when I started my first job as a system support, I soon found out that driving could be boring and tiring. Traffic jams, trying to get to a place on time and driving all day long have made driving boring. During my last job in Malaysia, I started enjoying driving again because I did not have to drive to work or drive for work.

Working for a delivery company or something similar is certainly not my type. Some people can be a truck driver as easy as obtaining a license. However, in countries like US, truck driver has to go through CDL training in order to prove that they have the ability and right attitude when driving a truck. It is good to have some kind of certifications or trainings before getting a career in trucking as one may know whether he or she is suitable in trucking while undergoing the training.

Short update …

The internet connection has been acting weird today. I am not able to browse anything at all from Internet Explorer except Firefox. Maybe they are planning an upgrade to IE 7. My internet connection at home too was causing problems on Saturday. Entrecard was slow and I could not make any drops at all to blogs that had dropped on my blog. On Sunday, however, Mee and I went to Colindale and we were not at home until 1900.

On Friday, we had texted the contractor regarding the shower and he replied that it will be fixed on Monday. We certainly hope so. It has been so inconvenient having to carry our stuffs and cloths to use the bathroom upstairs.

Steam cleaners

When I came to UK, I felt a bit uncomfortable with carpeted floor in most houses. In my opinion, carpeted floor is quite unhygienic even if we vacuum every day. Hairs, coffee stains, bits and pieces of food are very hard to see or clean off carpeted floor. However, most houses only have vacuum cleaners and steam cleaners seem to be not popular among the residents. In fact, most supermarkets only advertise vacuum cleaners.

Steam cleaners work in high temperature and will be able to clean and sanitize carpeted floors as well as furniture. New homes with wooden floors are also suitable to use with steam cleaners because most steam cleaners come with all kinds of accessories to be used on different kinds of surfaces.

I have seen shop assistants using small steam cleaners to straighten and clean clothing. I wonder if those powerful steam cleaners can be used for the same purpose.

Previous weeks matters …

It is Thursday now. Weekend is near once again. I had just stayed overtime yesterday because there were some tasks that needed to be completed. My manager’s phone calls are diverted to my phone since yesterday and I have been accepting calls from people who I have never met or heard before. Of course, they were surprised because I answered the calls. Anyway, I managed to solve their problems.

In the span of the past two weeks, I have received a number of emails from Gather.com. I was quite active in Gather before but eventually I stopped because my work is getting busier. Somehow, I hope that I will find the time again to visit Gather and make some friends there. But right at the moment, I just want to concentrate on updating my blog and also Entrecard.

Three weeks ago, a lot of Technorati users were having problem with the manual and automatic ping. I am glad that it is working fine now and my blogs are able to ping. I wonder why the support from Technorati never replies the tickets that were submitted to them. They should at least display a message saying that they are working on the issues that prevent the updates and pings. Even their Sign In hyperlink brings the user to Technorati Sign Up page.
