UK house prices fall at a record rate recently. Just two days ago, house prices have dropped almost 50% in some housing area in UK. I wonder if it has something to do with the supply and demand or more likely that most people could not afford to pay the mortgage. If I were the UK permanent resident, this might be a good time to buy a house or apartment. Of course, it will not be some kind of investment for me. But it will be good to own a house or apartment rather than renting for the rest of my life.
As the house prices continue to fall, banks are offering their best mortgage rates and mortgage quotes are available just anywhere. Somehow, I believe that a lot of reading and planning need to be done before going for a mortgage loan. Some people may say that you will never know what will happen if you keep calculating but never go ahead. Well, at least I would like to keep myself prepared before dig deep into unwanted debts.
Weather again. Hot today. Surprising news was our new housemate has moved out, again. Our landlord is still on vacation and we wondered if she has told to inform the landlord. Maybe our landlord is too nice. Tenants can just come and go without following the contract rules.
One thing that has been troubling Mee and me is the door locking sense. Most of our housemates only remember lock their rooms’ doors but not the main door or the back door. Sometimes, they even leave the doors open when nobody is at home. Of course, they will always remember to lock their door.
At work, I have a sense that a lady from another department does not like me very much. This morning, she asked her subordinate to call me and her subordinate acted like a middleman between two of us. I can hear her talking at the back and her subordinate tried to interpret what she wanted to tell me. Gosh, she was the one who wanted an answer from me and why can’t she call me directly? Anyway, that is not my problem. I cannot stop people from disliking me, can I?

I wonder what is so special at this time of the year. A look in the newspaper, there are so many advertisements on wine discounts. Just a month ago, my colleagues were busy organising a November trip to France through the Eurotunnel where they could get cheap wine. And three days ago, I received a statement with a wine discount voucher from Halifax. There is also some wine of the month club great offers from The Gold Medal Wine Club. Surely, they are not coincidence, are they?
Hmm… I believe that it has something to do with Christmas.
Weeks after weeks, life just goes on. How many Mondays have I gone through? Obviously, I cannot remember. Do you?
Hmm… I got a bad dream yesterday. Two if I remembered correctly. The first one was quite eerie where I woke up in the middle of the night almost in cold sweat. And the second one, I thought I have dreamt of it before. It was almost like the end of the world where meteors started pouring down from the sky. In the dream, I grabbed Mee and ran as fast as we could. Well, I was thinking about the movie Andromeda Strain before I fell asleep. Maybe that was the cause of it.
It is raining now.
Luckily, there are not many problems to deal with after the upgrade on Friday. Instead, there are problems with other systems. Sometimes, people just tell you that they are having problems with the system without describing the problems. So, what are they expecting from me?
By the way, the internet is very slow today.

Working as a system support in Malaysia is different from working as a system support in UK. In Malaysia, the term system support can have different meaning and often it covers any system that you can find within the organization. When I was working as a system support in Malaysia, I had to answer all the queries regarding the system internally as well as ensuring the system was connected physically. So, what do I mean by physically? I remember once when the office was under renovation. We, as the system support team had to cut and clamp over 100 network cables for the users to connect their computers at their desks. Then we had to also ensure that every network points were connected properly to the switches and server. Well, I thought that should be the job of the contractors involved. But sadly, no.
Enough for that. One thing that I found was the quality of the connectors. They were just simple Cat5E jack and most of the jacks were not working properly. If only the company was good enough to invest in some good Cat5e Keystone jack rather than purchasing some cheap jacks, our jobs could be easier. Cat5E Keystone jacks by Firefold look sturdy and they are flame retardant. However, it was out of questions when money was involved.

As expected, I finished my work at 1715 on Friday. That was about 45 minutes late. However, the system upgrade was successful. Hopefully, we will not be receiving too many calls from users next week. As the upgrade was successfully done, I have a list of tasks waiting for me to do on Monday. A whole bunch of tasks. Life at work is just getting busier. Sometimes, when you almost finish all the tasks on hand, that is when you will get more tasks and the tasks are like never ending.
Friday morning was icing cold and my car was “iced”. The windscreen and the top of my car had a layer of ice. Unknowingly, I thought it was water and I turned on the wiper. Luckily, the car has a heated windscreen and within seconds, the ice started to melt. If the car did not have the heated windscreen, I wonder how long I had to wait in my car before the ice melted.
Tomorrow, Mee will be working. I guess I will use the time to tidy up the room and finish some blogging stuff. Hmm… she will work for 4 hours and that will give me about 3 and a half hours time to do my things. That should be enough.
