Samsung NC10 arrived …

I can imagine un-boxing Samsung NC10 tonight. I received an email from Dixons last night and it said that the item will be delivered in 3-4 working days. The courier will be DHL. There is a link to track the order and my order is placed under Next Day delivery. Since I placed my order on Friday, I would expect it to arrive on today or tomorrow based on the 3-4 working days. The fact that Dixons uses DHL Next Day delivery is quite impressive considering that I did not pay any delivery charges.

As I typed, Mee had called to inform me that Samsung NC10 has arrived. It was delivered by a DHL guy driving a Mercedes Benz. Hmm… I guess DHL must be doing very well then.

Earlier, I was puzzled with a message that showed up in the tracking order page. It said ‘HSD Out for Delivery awaiting IOD’. I googled for it and the acronym for HSD should be Home Service Delivery while IOD would be Information on Delivery.

Winter swimwear?

Today is bright and sunny. My colleagues said that it will be snowing this weekend. Well, as always, UK weather is unpredictable. Just yesterday, one of my colleagues told us that she went to shop for a swimwear the previous weekend and found that that she has to wear bigger size than before. Initially, she thought of choosing a sexy swimwear but in the end, she chose nothing because she was sad due to her weight increased.

Well, it is going to be winter and why would my colleague need to buy a swimwear? Maybe for indoor use or maybe it is cheaper to buy now as oppose to summer.

I made the right choice …

According to Trusted Review, the place where I always seek for the latest netbook reviews, Dell Mini Inspiron 12 is in UK for sale at £429. That is quite expensive considering that the best feature of it is only the 12 inches screen. Other than that, it has a 1.6GHz Atom Z530 CPU which is a processor normally spotted on smaller mobile devices. The problem with the processor is that it only accepts RAM up to 1GB which indicates that upgrading the RAM is pointless.

The UK model has an 80GB PATA hard drive as opposed to a SATA drive which can be found in US model. It will be shipped with Windows Vista Home Edition and by looking at the specifications offered; there is no doubt that Dell Mini Inspiron 12 will be slow, very slow.

At £429, I might be better off by getting Asus S101. On second thought, I am glad that I made a purchase on Samsung NC10 at £288.05 which has the same specifications as Asus S101 except that Samsung NC10 has a bigger hard drive and thicker. Both Dell Mini Inspiron 12 and Asus S101 are almost impossible to be upgraded and I am really happy that I made the right choice.

My only regret will come if a dual-core Atom processor is available for netbooks within the next few months. And that is almost impossible as Intel has claimed that the dual-core Atom processor will not be available for netbooks at the moment. But you never know.

Work tools phobia

You may say that I am timid or anything but I am very cautious when using tools like saw, nail guns, something electrical and powerful. Well, I mean VERY cautious. When I watched Final Destination 3 and one of the victims was killed by air tools, I become even cautious whenever I think of the scene. Maybe it is just my nature and the fact that I am not able to cut something straight with saw. That was proven during my workshop classes where my classmates were able to cut woods in a straight line while I was too cautious that I could not cut straight. Well, the more powerful the tool is, the more cautious or nervous I get.

Mirror mirror on the wall

Mirrors in fengshui are considered both good and bad. It is said that a person who receives a mirror as a gift will also receive bad luck. In addition, mirrors should never be placed in front of the bed because of the reflection that may cause you uncomfortable and distress.

Even though I have no experience of placing a mirror in front of my bed, but I had slept under a beam before. For the first few nights, I kept having nightmare and would wake up in the middle of the night. I started getting suspicious about the fengshui of the room and in the end; I found out that I should not place my bed under a beam. I changed the position of my bed and no more nightmares.

You may say that it is something superstitious; however, it is better to believe it rather than to ignore it.

I made the order …

Sunday. It has been a long time since I made a Sunday post. What inspires me to do so? Nothing. Mee has been working every weekend and that means I have a lot of free time. In the past, when Mee only worked on Saturday, I was always hoping that weekend will come fast. Not now because my free time is more than enough. You know, you want more when something is just about right but that something is too much for me.

I ordered a white Samsung NC10 on Friday’s night. The delivery will take about 3 – 4 days excluding weekends. So, I will be expecting it to arrive either on coming Wednesday or Thursday. I cannot believe that I made the purchase before December. Anyway, I got a good deal, so, why not? Next weekend, I will be able to blog or organize my files on the bed. Or dropping entrecards using the netbook. Hmmm…. Sounds good, isn’t it? I cannot find anymore excuses, can I?
