Shopping again …

Mee and I went to town yesterday. As usual, it was crowded. The weather was cold but better that the raining Saturday. We went to source for a Christmas present of around £5 for our department Christmas gathering this coming Wednesday. Then we bought 5 plastic crates from Argos in order to tidy up our room. At night, Mee msn-ed with my sister to discuss Christmas do. Technically, I was not involved because I was busy playing UEFA Champions League 2000 and writing Christmas cards for my colleagues. I only gave my opinion once a while.

I have not spoken to my department manager regarding the college garage. She was quite busy and I could not get hold of her. Apparently, she is on her lunch now and I will try to speak to her as soon as she gets back. I wonder if the college garage has the time to check my car today. I just cannot wait to get rid of the engine warning light.

By the way, one of my colleagues dyed her hair blonde and most of them were making fun of her in the morning.

Troubles …

Two more weeks and it will be Christmas time. Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle all the way. Hehe… i am not a good singer actually. Well, it is festive season now and my colleagues have started decorating the office. Some offices have a full size Christmas tree. Wow … that is kind of serious stuff.

Two days without posting. Lazy was the word I think. Not at all to be honest. I was busy in the office because bad things happened after the new server is up. Gladly, it was solve on Friday and we, as in the MIS department, will have a good time next week, hopefully. Also, I am troubled by my car’s engine warning light. I tried calling the car dealer but only managed to get hold of him today. And they can only check my car on Monday. Well, I guess that I will just have my car checked by my college’s garage. Not sure what is the procedure but I will check with my department manager next week.

My manager will go on holiday from next Friday until beginning of January. I will be left alone then. Anyway, I will have my own holiday after new year. So, it is not that bad. By the way, no people will be looking for trouble before Christmas. That is the rule anyway. hehe …

As promised, I received the Virgin Media set top box on Thursday. Mee signed for it. It is a silver Samsung set top box and it looks a bit cheap. I have not tested it yet and we might not buy the TV box for now. Maybe after Christmas. Well, for your information, a TV box is used to convert any computer monitor to function as a TV.

Lastly, this is my first post using Mac OS X Leopard. I just love it.

Free Virgin Media TV service …

I received a surprise call from Virgin Media yesterday. The caller was quite long winded yet explained everything in details. As I am currently subscribing the phone and broadband, I am eligible to have free TV service. I thought of asking Virgin Media on the procedures to receive the free TV service after Mee and I come back from Malaysia. However, they act sooner than me and I believe that it is because my contract of £15.50 per month has just finished and I will start paying £20 per month from next month.

Due to this festive period, I will have the V Set-Top Box sent to me for free plus a free upgrade to L TV package free for a month from the time I connect the set-top box. After a month, my package will be reverted to M TV package. The only problem is that Mee and I do not have a TV. Buying a TV will make our room smaller. The other idea that I have in mind is to buy a TV Box which will convert the Set-Top Box signal to our monitor. The local Maplin store should have everything that we need to convert our monitor to a TV.

Quick update …

The new server is up and running. There are a few glitches but it will be looked at by my ex-manager. New server means the end of my backup duty. I can go back on time in other words. The departments around the college are planning their last meeting before Christmas and I had just received mine. Most of the staffs have their holidays booked but I have none. Well, it is their new year anyway.

Believe it or not, it is hot right now. Bright and sunny but come evening, I believe it will be icing cold. Yesterday, Mee bought a large throw as an addition to our blanket. That addition has made us slept better last night and of course in the future too.

Over at All My Reviews, I have posted that UEFA Champions League Season 2000 should work well with my Samsung NC10. Hmm… I wonder if I should install it tonight. Let’s see if I have the time.

Frustrating and busy weekend …

I used up most of my Saturday’s time playing around Mac OS X again. It was frustrating because I did so many restart until the volume corrupted. I have since restored from the backup and everything is working fine. The problem that I got was the WiFi stopped after installation of a program called Shade. Shade is used to control the brightness and it just screwed up the WiFi after reboot. But I am determined to try it again because sometimes, the screen is just too bright. Well, I thought that I would be lying on the bed comfortably typing my posts but instead, I was trying to make the WiFi worked on Mac OS X.

Mee and I went to Colindale, London yesterday. The weather was good; sunny but cold. Apparently, the lady who does the facial wash will be going back to Malaysia after Christmas for a long vacation. After all, she has not been back to Malaysia for four years. That is a long time.

On the way back, something not so good happened. The engine warning light of my car illuminated. However, everything was fine. There was no loss of power and the engine ran perfectly. We stopped at a rest area and I switched off the engine and reignited it. And it was alright. We thought that it might be fine again next morning and I continued to drive back home. I proceeded to wash my car under the cold weather and hoped that everything will be fine the next day.

Sadly, the light is still illuminating. I searched through forums and found out that some drivers experienced the engine warning light before and it was due to the fuel cap being not closed tightly. Apparently, Mee and I refilled the tank just before we went to Colindale yesterday. I just hope that is the case. Fingers crossed!

There was a Top Gear event happening at Festival Place Basingstoke last night. Jeremy Clarkson and The Stig (if I am not mistaken because I was not at the scene) drove around the centre’s pedestrian walkways as Festival Place was turned into a race track. Mee and I would not want to be there as it would definitely be crowded and I did not think that it was opened to public.

Getting cosy on the bed

The weather is getting cold. Normally, I can drive back home straightaway after work. Nowadays, I have to sit in my car for at least 10 minutes and waiting for the ice to melt. Every morning, I just hope that I can stay in the bed for a few more minutes. However, I need to drag myself out of the bed earlier than usual because I need to switch on the heated screen and the heating of my car for at least 10 minutes, again, waiting for the ice to melt.

Mee and I love our bed. As the weather turns cold, we tend to fight for each other’s share of blanket during the night. The thought of getting an extra duvet has come across our mind and we hope that we are able to get some good deal during Christmas period as well as the VAT reduction announcement. Well, good things do not come cheap, so we are looking for something affordable.

Spundown_duvet_packaging_

Spundown duvet from Pure Living Collection sounds good because it is lightweight and washable at 60 degrees. Best of all, it is good for allergy sufferers. This coming weekend, I can imagine myself blogging on the bed with the netbook since I have managed to solve the Mac OS X WiFi compatibility issue. Eating breakfast may not be a good idea. Getting the Spundown Duvet may be a good option because it is washable if we ever get it dirty but I believe we will always want its companion.
