My new mobile …

I had my haircut last Saturday which I failed to mention. Well, I literally told the hairdresser that I would like to have my hair shorter by the ears as my hair was covering my ears at that point of time. She proceeded to ask me if I wanted to have just scissor’s cut and I said yes. In the end, she cut my hair to just 2 – 3 inches in general. Erm… indeed, the results were above the ears but it is just too short. Maybe next time, I should tell the hairdresser the correct measurement of how short I would like my hair to be cut.

Few days ago, I posted about selecting mobile phones on All My Review. At the end of the post, I mentioned that I should change my concept that mobile phones are meant to make and receive calls. However, the day has not come because I still could not resist the temptation on buying a feature packed mobile phones. Yeah, I bought a Samsung Omnia i900 just yesterday. It is quite an expensive but good value mobile phone. I was able to cut the cost down by traded in my Sony Ericsson P990i and I got a year’s warranty.

Omnia is a Latin word that means everything. So, it is a mobile phone with just about everything that you can think of in a mobile phone. Samsung Omnia is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 and it has WiFi, 3G, 5MP camera, accelerometer sensor, touch screen, GPS, 8GB storage and etc. initially, I almost buy a normal touch screen mobile phone, Samsung Tocco but the shop has only pink units. Hence, on many thoughts later, I chose Samsung Omnia and I believe that I made the right choice.

I am impressed with the phone even thought some people were complaining about the battery life and such. I am planning to upgrade the ROM to the latest one available but I am still searching for more information as I am worried that the phone might relock itself since it was unlocked by the previous owner. Guess I will need to start asking questions in forums.

Double standard

I recently went to another department with one of my colleagues to work on a project. We were there to understand their manual process and the whole idea is to abandon the manual process and let the system does most of the work. It is funny that they were reluctant to accept the system process previously. Well, the main point is not transforming the manual work to a more systematic approach. Instead, they have new chairs!

Okay, during our health and safety training, even a paper cut has to be reported though most people do not report. Once a case is reported, relevant people will start to study the process to prevent the case from occurring again. They got the new chairs because they have complained about the old chairs which caused them backaches. Thus, chairs are considered as part of the safety equipment that protects the employees. However, my manager has been complaining about his backaches and requested for new chair. It took months for it to arrive and it is not as good as what the other department has.

Thinking back, I do not remember the health and safety trainer talked about different grades of safety equipment.

More and more tasks …

A new housemate moved in last night. He came at about midnight and seemed to take only a few things with him. Maybe he did not want to wake us up in the middle of the night. Anyway, hope that he will be the quiet type.

Yesterday, I was kind of busy. I got a last minute task from my manager which was to create an Access database and interface and it had to be done by Monday. Hence, I was only working on that task for the whole Friday. It was considered completed but I still need to tweak the interface and by Monday, I will be able to have someone test it out for me. Also, I have to do some testing to see if the database supports multiuser. In addition, I will be left on my own on Monday and Tuesday because my manager and department manager will be attending a conference.

Gosh… I got so many tasks to do. Everyday, I will check my tasks list first when I log on to my computer. Then I will be thinking which tasks I should be doing first. Next, I will check my emails for follow up tasks. When I first joined, my tasks were a lot easier because they were all assigned by my manager. As time goes, more and more users contact me directly and I have to manage most of the troubleshoot tasks myself. My manager and ex-manager will be the people that I seek advice and guidance from. Until then, I still enjoy my job and it is getting interesting day after day.

The match of the day between Manchester United and Liverpool has just finished. Liverpool won 4-1!!!!!

Liverpool won !!! …

I am quite pleased with the current progress of changing my blog design as well as updating the version of Flatpress it is using. The new version does not have many changes in terms of interface and design but it fixes some bugs which I never noticed. Well, it is always good to have an updated version of software.

I watched the football match between Liverpool and Read Madrid. I am a Liverpool supporter for years and their performance last night was really impressive, though the second half was a bit bad. The result was 4 nil against one of the top Spanish team. However, they are still not able to perform consistently throughout this whole season. Again, a lot of matches that should have won, they drew or lost. As a result, they are third in the league. This Saturday match against Manchester United should determine whether Liverpool is still the contender of this season’s English Premier League.

Two days ago, I watched Kungfu Hustle, a movie by Stephen Chow. Hmmm … I watched this movie for like 5 times but I still laughed throughout the whole movie even though it was not as funny as the first time I watched it.

Cleaning again …

Currently, I am doing some spring cleaning job. Some simple job such as cleaning my computer was completed last Saturday. Well, you never know what it looked like when you went on using the computer without having a peek into the condition inside the casing. I regretted for not taking any pictures of it as I was busy cleaning it up.

First of all, I have already broken the rules that I gave to some of my friends when it comes to cleaning up computer. I used a vacuum cleaner. Hmm … I used to warn my friends that vacuum cleaner should not be used when cleaning computer because some smaller parts might be vacuumed during the process of cleaning. We should use a blower instead and that was what I did during my work as a system support. Once a while, customers made requests to have their system cleaned and I would use blower.

However, I do not have the space or the blower. Thus, I used the vacuum cleaner at low speed and I was very careful. The whole processor heatsink was covered with dust.

Apart from that, I am trying hard to squeeze some space out of the already packed room that Mee and I living in at the moment. So far so good and I have been utilising shoe boxes to organise my socks and other smaller items. Work in progress still.

Next, comes the virtual world. As you may have noticed, my blog is a Flatpress blog. On and off, there will be an update and the latest version now is Flatpress 0.812.1 Fortissimo while I am still using the old version 7 Vivace. Hence, I am testing the latest version now but I am not rushing though. I have actually start from scratch; installation and creating a new design. As this blog is my first blog, I have a lot of unused codes and plugins lying around. So, I thought that this is a good time for me to reorganise the codes and change the design.

When I first started this blog, I kept thinking of putting tons of information. However, I believe that I should change it by just putting useful information and not just simply anything. Thus, I will not be changing anything right now and will let the new design does all the talking.

Panerai watches

We, siblings, have been thinking of buying a watch for our dad. Why watch? The thing is, it is always easier to think of something to buy for women compared to man. For women, you can always buy accessories including handbags, watches, dresses, jewelleries make-up products and others. For men, watches, wallets, belts, technology stuffs and that’s almost it. And those things do not come cheap either.

In addition, the guys in our family are quite particular when it comes to wearing accessories or using technology stuffs. We normally choose not to buy anything for our dad because he can be quite picky and not all the things that you buy for him, suits him. At least that is what he thinks.

Anyway, the watch is still in our thoughts and it will take some time to materialize it. There are things such as price, brand, strap and design to consider and I personally find that Panerai 1950 series of watches have a vintage look in them. Some of you may have not heard of Panerai but it is a Swiss-owned watch brand of Italian origin and has established since 1860.
