LCD Mount?

Since the new computer does not come with a monitor or keyboard and mouse, I only have to think about relocating the current computer base unit. The fact that our room’s space is quite limited, I can only think about it after the new computer arrived. Should I sell the old unit but it has been quite problematic. Just today, it could not boot properly and we have to wait at least 1 – 2 weeks for the new computer to arrive.

I wonder what will happen if the new computer comes with a LCD monitor. Will I buy a LCD mount or use it with Virgin Media set top box by purchasing a converter? LCD mount option is almost out of question since we are only renting the room. Drilling holes is not allowed. The idea of using it with Virgin Media set top box is good as I have always wanted to replace the bulky tv but I just do not get the approval from Mee. Anyway, I should not be thinking of these matters because the new computer does not come with a LCD monitor, period.

Easter holiday …

Last Thursday was an important day. Mee’s filght arrived at Heathrow’s Terminal 3 at around 1630 and she came out from the security checks after an hour later. The airport was very busy at that time, unlike Terminal 4 which was very quite when I came back here last February. As it was Good Friday, the news reported that there would be major traffic jams on the motorway especially near the airport. Hence, I decided to set off early. The traffic was heavy but it only took an extra 10 minutes or so for me to get to the airport. Well, it was not that bad as reported. However, on the way back, the traffic was slightly worse as it was after office hours.

The next day, Mee woke up at around 0500 – 0600 and she cooked instant noodles while I was still sleeping. The next few days, she woke up at around 0700 while I struggled to wake up. I believe that Mee is still jet-lagged but it would be a good practice if she could wake up early everyday, erm … not like me though.

Yesterday, we made a trip to a Chinese Supermarket in Reading, called See Woo Reading. One of my colleagues told me about it when I first joined the workplace. Well, it was quite small compared to Wing Yip Colindale and Wing Yip Croydon. There were not many things to see and we hardly bought anything in the end. There are some big stores around the area and we decided to just walk around. I was attracted to PC World and Currys as Mee and I have decided to purchase a new computer since the current one has been causing some problem; firstly, the second hard disk was corrupted and I lost all my data on that drive and secondly, the system hung anytime it likes and sometimes, it could not boot into Vista at all.

The option of replacing the current computer casing is not feasible and we purchased a new computer just last night. You can read more about the specifications at All My Reviews.

Ways to help

The crime in UK seems to be on the rise. But according to my ex-lecturer, she once told us that when bad things are on the rise, we should also be happy because good things are happening at the same time. Even some UK government ministers are abusing their power by claiming tax payers’ money for their own cause. I believe that UK has the highest tax reduction rate.

I recently watched a tv show called the Secret Millionaire where each show, there will be a millionaire volunteers to go to a place in UK to help the poor by donating a certain amount of money. The people who the millionaire helps maybe an individual or people working for charity organisation. It is up to the millionaire to help who and he or she can also help everyone he or she has come across.

If only all the millionaires help in a similar way like the show, there may not be such a great gap between the rich and the poor. I wonder how many episodes the Secret Millionaire last. Most of the secret millionaires donated quite a large amount to charity organisation. In one of the episodes, there were a few drug abusers who benefit from the local charity organisation which they believe the way the charity organisation helps them are better than in drug rehab.

If I were a millionaire, I wonder if I would do the same like they have done in the show.

Champions League thought …

I watched Manchester United vs Porto and Villarreal vs Arsenal last night. No, I do not have two televisions, I just switched between channels. As you know, none of them is my favourite team. I have to admit that the match between Manchester United and Porto was more exciting. Porto should have won it and they were disappointed by the poor defender’s pass. That was a big mistake. I was less impressed by the way Manchester United especially Ronaldo. He was such a baby. Rooney appeared to be stronger and better player than what I read from the newspaper.

I also cannot believe why the newspapers are making a fuss about the 17-year-old Manchester United player who scored in the match against Aston Villa. The last few pages were all about the goal and the ‘whiz’ kid. I guess I will just want to wait and see how famous that guy can be. It is just like in the old days when Michael Owen scored a goal for England and he was very young at that time. I could not believe it when Liverpool bought him during the transfer season. But maybe, the Liverpool manager at that time did not know how to make the best out of the players. In fact, most of Liverpool managers for the last 10 – 15 years were crapped except Rafa Benitez.

I still have my doubt about how far Liverpool can go this season even though after watching the match as Liverpool beat Real Madrid four nil. The way Liverpool played were impressive as they moved around the pitch and taking control over the match. But the question is still, how long will it last? Liverpool has not been consistent over the past years. As much doubts as I have, I still hope Liverpool will win the remaining all matches. Yes, including Champions League matches.

Well, it will be Liverpool vs Chelsea and Barcelona vs Bayern Munich tonight. It will be interesting to watch the latter match but I think I will stick to Liverpool vs Chelsea.

Good progress …

At last, I have made some good progress on the new design and hopefully it will be introduced soon. Previously, my mind was kind of blank as I stopped at a stage where I was not really sure what I was doing. But now, most things are in place and there are a few tweaks needed to be done before I replace the current template. Fingers crossed!

The weather has turned chilly since yesterday. Luckily, I washed my car last Saturday as the weather was good. I even managed to polish it and it is very shiny now. I have also tidied up the room and I will need to change the bed sheet and vacuum the room just before Mee comes back.

All My Reviews is down at the moment just when I was thinking of updated it today. It has been a while since I last updated it.

My department manager has gone for a long Easter break. My ex-manager has signed another year of contract and I have been with the college for more than a year now.

Short update …

After this weekend and a few weekdays, Mee will be on her way back to UK. I have to tidy up the room this weekend because I did not do it last weekend as promised. It will be exciting.

Just when I was about to go home today, I was handed a job which seems to be an easy but I reckon it will need some time to figure it out. I guess I will have the whole of next week occupied. Well, that is not too bad considering Easter break is just next weekend. Busy is good, as it keeps me occupied all the time.

The housemate who moved in not long ago, will be moving out soon. The landlord told me that he never meant to stay very long. His working hours are totally different from mine which is why I never met him until.
