Busy weekend

Yesterday was considered the last day of the training with the consultant. He has done 80 to 90 percent of his work here and from today onwards, it will be my job to further enhance it. He will come back sometime at the end of April and by then, we hope that we will have a more complete understanding of the coding and a more complete web module. Honestly, I did not learn a lot from the consultant because most of the time, he was working and troubleshooting at the same time. Sometimes, we were just chatting like how mac memory differs from pc memory as he mentioned that he prefers to work on a Mac. However, even before the training, I have already known what I needed to gain from him and I got most of my questions answered in the first two days of training.

Mee is on holiday this weekend. That means I will skip my spinning class and weight training session in the morning as we plan to go to Legoland and Wing Yip Colindale. Well, it is going to be a busy weekend but I still hope that we will have to time to go to gym on Sunday. And come Monday, it will be the same story; web programming all day long.

Pain

I have been training for weeks now and I still feel pain in most parts of my body. It might be a good thing as it indicates that those muscles are working hard. In addition, I have been trying out different training routine which I learn from the free magazine that comes with the supplements that arrived last week. The only thing that I did not follow is the recommended phentermine consumption which aims to burn fat. As usual, I will refrain myself from taking pills which I deem it to be damaging to my body. I have also been planning my supplements intake, as it should not be considered as the only ingredient to gain weight. But on the other hand, thousands of people are using these supplements daily and they should not bring too much harm, right? I guess what I really need to do now is to re-arrange my training routine as I felt that I have been attending too many classes now.

Work, work, work

It is raining now. These days, I have been working with coding all day long. Just yesterday, we had a consultant coming in to discuss about setting up a module for our internal website. It took almost half a day to discuss the specifications and also showing him what we have at the moment and what we hope to achieve. I would say the discussion was good but it would be better to do some practical things instead of just talking. Towards the end of the session, he showed us some basic steps to create C#.NET web pages from ‘scratch’. Well, in my dictionary, creating web pages from scratch means typing the codes from start to end. However, all we did is to install Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and start dragging and dropping. There are still another five sessions to come and after that, we will be on our own.

The deadline for this project is set at the end of May. After this, there are more to come and in the near future, it will not be just internal website. It will be opened to students and parents. And the next step would be opened to the public so that they can do online payments, online enquiries and more. Sounds like a big task and yes it is.

I foresee that I will soon be requesting a remote desktop account which will enable me to log in to my work computer from home. Hmm…when I reach the situation where I have to work from home, the results of it would be better than any weight loss product that you can find in the market. Time is certainly not enough but I still feel quite confident in meeting the end of May deadline.

Nothing to complain

The weather today is misty. It has turned from hot to cold in just a day. Since I have talked about the parking problems a couple of days ago, everything is normal again. However, I am quite sure that there will be some parking problems next week.

I ordered my supplements again last week and this time, the delivery was super-fast. I was also surprised that I received both text message and email confirming the delivery time and item tracking. I was even more surprised that the delivery arrived on time. As I was refreshing the item tracking page, I saw a message stating that the item was not delivered because there was no one at home. Immediately, I started to search the depot or maybe arrange a second delivery through the item tracking page. To my surprise again, Mee had signed for the item. She reached home from work just after the delivery man updated his item tracking database. Phew!

My order came with a free magazine and there are loyalty points to collect too. The magazine is quite informative. In fact, I thought it is better than the magazine which I bought several months back. It has a combination of workouts suggestions and nutrisystem reviews that help readers to choose and decide which is best for them. The products sold on this website is competitive in price and best of all, it has loyalty points which can then be converted to money on the next purchase. And the delivery was fast and what more can I ask?

Parking woes …

I came into the college this morning and there were cars coming out in the wrong direction. Something bad must have happened. A quarter of the parking spaces were closed and as a result, I have to park my car across the road. It is still the college’s car park but it means that I will have to walk across the road twice; once to go to my office, and once to pick up my car. Troublesome! The college’s estate and facilities department seems to have their manager changed from time to time. We were only told that the department has reshuffled but we were not told that the previous manager has resigned. We were also not informed whenever they reserved parking spaces. Every now and then, there will be a row of parking spaces reserved with orange cones. I think I will lodge a complaint if it happens again tomorrow.

Changes in the office

It is hot right now. I cannot imagine that it was winter cold last week. I guess this is the typical UK weather. I worked overtime yesterday while Mee went to Aquadrome alone for a body attack session. She said that there were a lot of people there. There seems to be a trend in these sport centres where they usually have a lot of members at the beginning of the year. However, it gets lesser and lesser towards Christmas. For me, last night was quite hectic as that was the first time I was alone doing the support. But I was glad that it ended without many problems.

————————————
A while ago, I mentioned that there will be some changes to the office furniture in my department. Well, there were some changes just now but not adding new furniture or removing old furniture. The site supervisors were here to move the furniture around and the door connecting two departments was removed once again.

When I first came into this office, there was no door between these two departments. When they finally decided that they needed more room to accommodate the increasing paperwork (mind you, they have five huge built in cabinets), they brought in more cabinets and a door was fixed. Hence it separated the two departments. Months later, someone thought that it was way too inconvenient because one of the offices is without a pantry. So, the door was removed just now but our department manager was not here to oversee the whole process. I wonder what will happen when she comes back tomorrow. Will the door be installed again?
