What is your RealAge?

Have you tried using RealAge test to check your real age? I tried it a few months ago and I have vague memory about the outcome of the test. Nevertheless, I remember that the result was not ideal. I am not trying to promote RealAge but it really offers a lot of information about health, diet, food and all sorts of articles like diet pills that work, parent guide and the likes. I check it once a while and read the newsletters that get delivered to my mailbox. In fact, I felt that it offers to much information that makes me not wanting visit the site too often. I guess that is just lazy me.

Slow XP, Fast Leopard

For the first time in months, I am using my netbook to blog. And I am using iDeneb Mac OSX Leopard’s Safari browser. Hmm…. my netbook is much more responsive when using Mac operating system. It was very lagged when I tried using Windows XP; the original operating system that came with the netbook. Well, at one point, I thought of reinstalling Windows XP but on second thought, I might be getting an iPad or a smartbook in a few months time. By then, I might as well be using Mac OSX Leopard solely on my netbook. Well, too much thinking here. Still months to go and I better concentrate on my work project first.

I am watching The Bourne Supremacy on my 14” CRT TV on a bedside cabinet as the tv stands. Well, Mee and I have been watching TV this way for almost a year now. It blocks our way a little but we are kind of used to it already. I just hope that we will soon have our own space; I mean renting a flat rather than a room like now. But that will mean more expenses and the opportunity to fill up the spaces of a flat rather than a room. Just a thought.

Tiring days

Recent gym classes have seemed to wear me out. I felt sleepy towards midnight but hopefully, I will not be like that during this weekend. That’s because I plan to do some work from home and my brain seems to work well in the middle of the night. I once talked to one of my gym instructors and she revealed that the idea of keep pushing herself has kept her fit and healthy even at 44 years old. She does not believe in diet pills to keep her slim and healthy even after reading thermotox review. However, she does believe that good diet contributes to well-being. Mind you, she can teach five or six high energy gym classes in a day. Just two classes would have easily torn me apart.

Apple has postponed its iPad launch date to late May. I have just finished reading CNET iPad review and it states there £545 as typical price. Gosh, that is so expensive considering that the starting price in US is only $499. Anyway, nothing is certain until they announce the price in 10th May 2010.

Gadgets, gadgets

If I have not mentioned about gadgets lately, I would like to say that iPad was a gadget that I had been waiting eagerly since it was announce. Well, I said, “was”, because several leading computer companies are developing smartbooks which are the future of netbook and mobile phones. Even before iPad was announced, I almost went for iPod Touch. I was not that keen on iPhone because of the price and the fact that the phone capability is the only major advantage over iPod Touch; as far as I know.

On the other hand, iPad offers bigger screen but it could not multitask. Experience tells us that whilst we might be the proud owner of the very first new product, chances are better and improved products are already in the making. Hence, until there is a multitask iPad in the market, I shall keep my wallet tight. Though the range of smartbooks covers from touchscreen to full keyboard and touchscreen, we still need to wait until they are officially launched before we can start evaluating the devices.

One purchase which I have not regretted so far even though there have been many successors over the years is Playstation Portable. It is the Phat-PSP as most people would call it. I have thought about upgrading to newer PSP but I would rather use the money for other gadgets. This Phat-PSP still works flawlessly and it plays any games that are thrown to it. In future, I will be torn between playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii when Mee and I move to a place of our own.

Another quiet day at work …

The fire alarm just sounded and everyone had to gather at the emergency gathering point. We were amazed at the number of staffs in the college. Well, there were about 30 to 40 members of staff. While we were waiting for the green light to go back to our office, the construction workers who were doing some repairs and renovations in the college did not even bother the fire alarm. They continued to work. We believe that it must have been their equipment that triggered the fire alarm.

Another six weeks and I will have to complete this initial project. Needless to say, this is a never-ending project because there will always be improvements and enhancements or suggestions by various staffs. Furthermore, there are also dozens of enhancements waiting for me to do on the previous website that I have developed. Overtime has also been agreed and approved but luckily, I will be able to claim the hours if I work from home. In fact, I have worked over 10 hours at home within the last two weeks. I felt that I am able to accomplish more at home because of the quite environment. Most of my login sessions started late night to two or three o’clock in the morning.

Easter break

It is quite hot right now. The Easter break for students ends next week. Hence, the college is quite empty and quiet. Well, not really that quiet because there are some renovation going on just below my office. For me, I find that it is quite hard to concentrate sometimes because of the drilling and knocking especially when I try to troubleshoot some problems. The website that I have been working on is progressing smoothly but slowly. I sort of getting a hang of .NET web programming environment and from now on, I should be on full swing. I should have been on full swing a couple of days ago but I always tend to stray away from my main objective.

Well, the main objective was to create a simple and draft version of website that allows interaction from staffs and students. There could be just simple forms for adding, editing and deleting data. However, for the past couple of weeks, I have been testing the functionality of AJAX, popup boxes, jQuery and the styling of the web pages. In fact, I was supposed to finish all the initial web pages by today but I am no where near that. I guess my managers will forgive me when they see some of the interfaces that I have created so far, hehe….

A couple of my friends have given birth in the last couple of weeks. I have not got the chance to congratulate them yet. Well, they never inform me too but I just got to know through facebook. I should have sent them a message though. I might do it tonight. When I was in Malaysia, they told me that they were taking prenatal vitamin which claims to supply various nutrients for the pregnant and the baby. I might ask them if it were useful when I got the chance to meet up with them again. Hmmm…. One of my friends who has given birth has only one word to describe the delivery process; pain!
