It has been a month since I bought my HTC Desire. As usual, after using a gadget for sometime, less care will be taken when using it. At the very least, I have the screen protector on it. One of the reasons that I use the screen protector is that the HTC Desire’s screen itself is fingerprint magnet. Initially, I thought the screen protector was a bad idea because it was sticky even though it does not attract fingerprint. The more I use it, the less sticky it is and now, it is smooth without the need to polish the screen every now and then.
I believe I am quite comfortable with the Android scene. It is obviously much more user friendly than Windows Mobile phone and the settings are very much straightforward. The market is a lot of fun with tons of applications and games to download and try. Most free applications or games come with advertisement. I believe the advertisement will be catered to the types of games or applications that you are running. When I was playing fashion games, the advertisement that came up was about prom dresses and also recommending other similar games. I am quite impressed how HTC Desire copes with running both the games and advertisement at the same time. It is almost seamless. But bear in mind that if you have your mobile network connection switched on while playing games with advertisement, you are likely to loose some network data allowance.
The situation in my workplace is a little bit of havoc. One day the system is up and running, the next day nothing seems to work. I have a new PC with Windows 7 but I am still using my old PC on Windows XP because the network and servers do not seem to like the new Windows 7 very much; even though the so called IT professionals have tested Windows 7 for weeks. They should have upgraded Windows 7 by batches. Instead, they upgraded all existing PCs to Windows 7 over last weekend. When everyone eagerly came to work on Monday to test out the new system, it did not work at all. In fact, most staffs could not do their work because the servers and computers were not talking to each other.
Just yesterday, they managed to get most things up and running but this morning, everything just stalled. None of the IT professionals could be found until 0900 hours. They solved it eventually. Well, they have to. I am still using my old PC and the new PC is lying comfortably under my table, unused. Ideally, I would like to have another set of monitor, keyboard and mouse so that I can install the software I use on the new PC while giving me the ability to work using my old PC. But I doubt they have the time to deal with my request anyway. Bear in mind that everything should be up and running by the end of this week!

Recently, I have started working on All My Reviews blog again. As you can see, there are new updates about once a week. In my opinion, it is a great space for me to publish any kind of reviews on the latest movies that I have watched as well as the latest gadgets that I have owned. As you may have already noticed, my recent posts were all about HTC Desire. More will be coming because there is just so much to talk about this great phone.
Among the reviews, you could also find one or two about my netbook reviews, the Samsung NC10. It is a great netbook even though it is slow but I have been patient. It was previously installed with Windows XP but I have upgraded it to Windows 7 with Microsoft Office 2007. I must say that my Samsung NC10 is working better in Windows 7 compared to Windows XP or MacOS86. I read from some netbook forums indicating that Windows 7 is not compatible with Samsung NC10 but I believe they are wrong. The Samsung NC10 Windows 7 drivers can be found in its website and each of the ports is working well with Windows 7. Hmm… this has given me an idea to write an article about my netbook Samsung NC10 and Windows 7.
Movies reviews are once of those things which take more time than writing the other types of reviews. For me, I have to watch a movie at least twice in order to fully aware and understand the flow of the movie. And that is the reason that I am slow when it comes to publishing movie reviews. Besides, I am busy with my work these days. My target is to update All My Reviews at least once a week and keep My Ideas 4 You as it is.

Virtualisation appears to be quite popular these days. Windows 7 users are recommended to run older windows program using one of its module called Windows XP Mode which is using the same virtualisation concept. Today I am in the office but I could not do work on the servers because the IT supports are trying to virtualise the servers. They started yesterday afternoon but there were some problems on one of the servers and as usual, the downtime is longer than expected.
Towards the end of the project, we will have a data center virtualization and every staffs will have a considerable fast network speed. Well, it will be great if it works because all IT equipment from the servers down to the network cables is new. There seems to be no room for any kind of failure at all. Good luck to them!

I must have talked about insurance umpteen times. I have been doing some data gathering very slowly but all I can find is the regular kind of insurance where you pay a certain amount of money every month. However, it will not be an investment which means you do not get a certain amount of money at the end of the policy. Well, my ideal policy would be some sort of savings. I have not asked me colleagues though. They probably know more than I do. I believe they will have home insurance, content insurance as well as personal insurance and not to mention car insurance.
One of the things that I do not like is talking to agent when buying an insurance policy. I always feel that they are trying to force you into buying an insurance policy without really thinking your real need of insurance. And that is the reason why I like to do things online. In US, the health insurance in nc offers the convenience in getting insurance quotes through the internet which I think is really good. If the quote is good, you can then decide whether or not to discuss with them further. It would be nice if most of the insurance company adopt online quotes.

The last couple of days were a little bit of havoc. On Wednesday, I had to work in a small secluded room next to the server and yesterday, the whole area was out of electricity for half a day when we were told that the power would resume at 1000. Anyway, I wasted half a day and I had to move my PC to another room for the next half because the power was resume partially. Today, I am back in my office and for our information, the servers will be down next Monday and Tuesday which means, we are not able to do anything during those two days. I have though because the servers that will be down contain the software that we use. Basically, the servers contain the student data.
If we are lucky, everything should be up and running when the last week of August arrives. Otherwise, we might be stuck with more downtime and I will have nothing to do because I have cleared up my desk, almost.
