Cold weather

I listened to the radio this morning and it was advised that anyone should avoid going into London city by driving unless necessary. I guess it had something to do with the snow as I didn’t get to listen to the first part of the message. The weather now is so unpredictable. Just yesterday, there was some light snow. One of my colleagues’ garage door openers are damaged and she finds it hard to get someone to fix it in this kind of weather. And because of the weather, Mee is sick at the moment; a bit of fever and sore throat. I am not feeling well too but I am trying to keep myself warm by wearing more clothes than usual.

Well, we can’t totally blame the weather though. I think we just don’t have the proper equipment to deal with this cold weather. I will be going to purchase a duvet after work today but I don’t remember that we suffered from the cold weather without a duvet last year. Anyway, landlord has to be blamed too. The heating is set so that it only runs from 7am to around 10am and from 630pm to around 11pm. Funnily, weekends’ heating starts from 530pm. I believe the landlord has also set the temperature because as I said, we don’t feel that cold last year when staying indoor.

CyanogenMod 6.1.0 RC2 …

The snow had made Mee and I walked to work yesterday. We did make our journey short by getting on a bus halfway. The bus driver was kind enough to let us board the bus ‘illegally’ as we were far from the nearest bus stop. On going back home, we just walked to the town centre and catch a bus from there. When we reached the bus stop outside our house, there was a snowman with a cigarette sitting on the bench of the bus stop. Kids these days are quite creative.

It’s been quite a while since I last posted about my phone, HTC Desire. Well, I have made a lot of changes to it and I have also installed a lot of applications and games on it. The worst thing had happened as it was getting slower and slower though it was still faster than my previous Samsung Omnia. So, it’s time to move on to new ROM and I flashed the popular CyanogenMod just last night. With CyanogenMod, I lost the HTC Sense UI interface. Prior to flashing CyanogenMod, I read dozens of posts from different forums in order to determine whether or not I will be making the right choice. The two things that I thought of were HTC Sense UI and backup. With the right tools, backup was painless.

A lot of forum users were like “can’t live without HTC Sense UI” which made me kind of worried. After flashing CyanogenMod ROM onto my HTC Desire, I have not looked back. The ADW Launcher is comparable to HTC Sense UI or perhaps, even better as it allows more customisation and themes. Right now, I have to concentrate on installing all the apps and games that I had previously. It’s going to take a long time. Apart from that, I do not have much to complain though I have only used it like a few hours.

Snowing heavily now

It is snowing heavily now. I wonder if the place where I work will be closed tomorrow, though we had already received an email saying that it will be opened no matter what. Well, there have been a lot of debates since the email circulated around the staffs. One of the things mentioned was that staffs who managed to come to work are expected to clear the snow. What kind of expectation was that? Of course, the email was then bombarded with dozens of comments about health and safety. Anyway, I wonder what will happen tomorrow. I am supposed to go to a conference in Reading with two of my colleagues but I guess it will be cancelled.

Oh, by the way, I am about to order my supplement. Any order above certain amount will automatically get a free magazine and free next day delivery. I doubt that this weather will allow them to deliver on time. Well, it happened to me when I purchased from them last year. It was delayed by several days and the customer service had not been very helpful. I guess I couldn’t blame them as they wouldn’t know when it will be safe for their driver to deliver the goods since it was snowing almost every night. On the website, it has information about www.mildacne.org which provides acne treatment reviews. These reviews are sometimes important especially when there are so many types of treatment products in the market. And you never know which one is good. Sometimes, the more expensive items may not be the best until you actually try them.
