Watch strap for iPod Nano

Lunatik Tiktok + Multitouch

My last decent watch’s battery died on me a couple of months ago. Well, I say decent because it’s the watch that I can wear to work. I have one last working watch but it’s funky. The battery itself costs from £25 to £40.I don’t really want to spend that kind of money just to get my watch working again considering that I can replace the battery a lot cheaper back in my home country.

Since then, I have been looking for a replacement. Not just any replacement but a watch that doesn’t need battery to operate. Kinetic may be the solution but it’s not cheap depending on brand and design. I guess I could have just got a normal kinetic watch and change it when it’s broken? Well, being me, I just would like something a little bit different. Chronograph watches like michael kors watch are what I like but it costs a lot with added kinetic feature.

Just a couple of days ago, I went into Apple online store and saw iWatchz watch strap for iPod Nano. I was attracted by the idea immediately. How nice it would be to use a gadget as a watch and vice versa. Best of all, I don’t have to think about the battery. It’s the solution for me but as experience told me, I shouldn’t get to excited. I started reading reviews and watching videos to see how practical it would be to wear an iPod Nano. It’s not all too bad though I am a little bit worry about the size.

The other concern that I had, which is not a concern for me anymore is the need to press the ON/OFF switch whenever I want to see the time. On second thought, I rely on my mobile phone at the moment which requires me to press a button to see the time.

Anyway, I might not be after iWatchz watch strap anymore. Minimal Lunatik’s Tiktoks and Multitouch attract me the most. All reviews compliment the quality of the strap compared to iWatchz. It costs more than iWatchz but as I always say, you get what you paid for.

Milan and Venice Summary …

Tags: , , , ,

I am back to my office space now. Mee and I didn’t have a really great time in Italy though it’s still a good trip. In Milan, there were not many things to see and do except shopping. Well, the latter is no doubt Mee’s favourite. Our hotel was okay though we expect better service than that from a three stars hotel. On our last day in Milan, we left it quite late before taking a train journey to Venice. It was about 8pm when we reached Venizia Santa Lucia train station. From there we took a boat to a stop near our hotel.

On the way, I was surprised that there were still so many people wandering around in Venice especially it was raining at that time. We had no trouble reaching our hotel. The next two days were a bit of a disaster as it rained throughout the day and flooded part of Venice. We boarded a gondola as part of our tour. It was a good experience but spoilt by the rain and flood.

The final day was the best as there was no rain or flood at all. Our flight was at night, hence we still have quite a bit of time to enjoy Venice under the sun.

Going abroad

Tags: , , , , , , ,

No doubt I am very excited now. I haven’t posted anything for a while and that’s because I am busy. Well, I am always busy. But there’s always a good reason to be busy. First of all, I am busy with my work and that’s always a good thing. Secondly, Mee and I will be going to Italy tomorrow! And that’s why I am excited. As usual, I like to plan things ahead and I am so busy planning things to do in Italy that I haven’t got much time to blog and to tweet. Moreover, Mee and I went to Bristol the previous weekend to meet my sister. She was there to do her yoga thing and she invited us to go there. Since we have never been to Bristol, that’s a good time to go then especially we didn’t have to pay to stay at the hotel, hehehe ….

Anyway, we are going to two different places in Italy; Milan and Venice. Just one place would keep me busy enough with the planning, let alone two. I still remember when Mee and I went to Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei. I was so busy planning and Google Map didn’t make it any easier for me as most of Taipei’s roads are in Chinese wordings. Upon arriving, I realised that Google Map wasn’t that accurate. But as with most hotels, they provide local map and now I don’t really feel as pressure as before. On the other hand, Google Map is very accurate if you are looking at European countries. So, no pressure here!

I thought about using my car gps but it’s never easy to walk around with it especially the battery dies quite quickly. At the back of my mind, I am wary of carrying too much gadgets while on travel. Though owning gps is quite normal nowadays, I still feel that it will be a target to thieves. Hence, I still like the idea of using map instead.

I think I have everything I need now and we’ll see when we get there. It should be fun!

Mac OS X Lion …

Mac OS X Lion

Mac OS X Lion

It’s been a while and I am still thinking whether or not to purchase and install Mac OS X Lion. It’s a tough decision for me because I am not a heavy user and I wonder if those 250 functions really useful to me. On the other hand, the price at £20.99 is great and the Launchpad and full screen window are very attractive. For me, I like new stuffs but not before it has been tested and proved to be having no major problems. Conflicting enough, there are Mac users who love Lion and there are others who hate Lion. Well, love and hate are quite distinct and there seem to be not many stand in between when it comes to Lion.

I do hope when I finally decide to install it, I will love it.

Currently, I don’t have many programs installed. However, I still worry about the compatibility of the programs with Mac OS X Lion. Maybe I am the type of person who worries too much. I tried not to think too much but sometimes, I just can’t help it.

I am not sure why and when; I have lost the interest in customising things like my mobile phone, desktop wallpaper, desktop colours and fiddling with the settings. The idea of hacking and cracking is still very much alive in me but after the initial stage, I don’t follow up much later on. After using Macbook Air and iPad2, I am even more sure that I have lost that interest. I like simplicity now. Even though I jailbreak my iPad2, I didn’t follow any of the after jailbreak guides. By the way, I have just realised that there is a new Cyanogenmod release and I shall have to arrange some of my time to install it on my HTC Desire. It’s been like 3-4 months since their last release and I certainly hope that this latest release will fix some of the problems that I have with my HTC Desire running on the older Cyanogenmod version.

Apple …

Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Sometimes, things just happen. Last night, right before I went to bed, I turned on my iPad2 and ran Flipboard. Flipboard is an app that allows you to read your feeds from facebook, twitter, and any other feeds like a newspaper. I think it’s cool and actually, I prefer it to Pulse, another app that does almost the same thing. Anyway, while flipping through Flipboard, there was one post that caught my attention. Steve Jobs has passed away. I looked at the post and stopped a few seconds. I just thought, is it real or hoax? Well, it was tweeted by TechRepublic about 8 minutes ago and I don’t think it will be a hoax. Immediately, I searched the internet and things become clearer and it’s true.

I am just starting to like Apple products though the iPhone 4S is a bit of a disappointment. By now, you must have read the difference between iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. In my opinion, I just can’t think what else can new iPhone outdo older iPhone except adding better functionality. But they will always create something that people like me can never thought of which is why I am always the users. Well, I am always in a dilemma. My theory is always not to use the same brand for every product that I use. For example, I use a Mac and iPad2 but an Android phone. It’s good to have something different. However, at the back of my mind, I kind of like having iPhone 4S simply because Mee has an iPhone 4. Don’t take me wrong. It’s just that Mee has an iPhone 4 and I could see how different it is compared to my HTC Desire which has almost identical specification. iPhone4 is just stronger. Even though iPhone 4 processor is an A4 chip while my iPad2 is an A5 chip, I can’t really notice the difference. iPhone 4S could be interesting.

Boosting WiFi Signal

Tags: , ,

Just yesterday, I watched The Gadget Show and it was showing a guide on how to boost WiFi signal in a huge house with dozen of rooms. I was initially dislike The Gadget Show but being the only technology programme on tele, I watched a few more episodes and started liking it. However, I was a bit disappointed by yesterday’s guide on boosting WiFi signal. The first tip is to arrange the WiFi router so that the signal could beam to wider spaces without too many obstructions. Then the antenna replacement and setting up an additional router booster. These are not exactly bad idea but I thought The Gadget Show should have tested more than that. I know that there is a product that you can plug it into the wall socket and essentially, the device itself is providing the WiFi signal. If you get another one and plug it into, say the bedroom, it will automatically pick up the signal through the electricity and then provide the WiFi signal in that bedroom. In addition, there is this widely advertised wilson cell booster canada. It has range of products from a single booster unit to full blown WiFi signal booster kit. I do not know exactly how the device work or how well they work. I was hoping The Gadget Show would have had the product tested because that’s what they do.
