The prospect of moving out of our current rented place is all but almost vanished. It’s the middle of January 2012 and Mee and I see no point in moving out until my work permit ends in October 2012. We could talk about my work permit all day long but in the end, it still depends on the rules and regulations when it comes to extend or reapply my work permit. Anyway, Mee and I still looking at newly advertised places for rent but so far, they are either expensive or not in a good shape. When looking for a place to rent, we don’t really mind whether it’s fully furnished, part furnished or unfurnished. We consider the amount of space available as well as the state of the bathroom and kitchen. Some landlords offer cheaper rents but it puts us off when the bathroom vanity look weary even if the kitchen looks good. Some apartments look immaculate but it comes with a price. Ultimately, we are still looking forward to buying a house instead of renting.
Always, it’s something that happens in our current rented place that prompted us the urge to move out. The latest one being a rise in rent by £15 a week. I said our landlord he is actually like a middle man who takes care of the house for the real landlord. We discussed with him a week ago and he said that he will try to negotiate with the landlord and give me a reply in a day or two. We waited a week and I finally texted him on the past Monday. A few minutes later, he replied and said that the landlord doesn’t want to lower the rent. We are unsure whether or not he actually discussed with the landlord. If he had already known beforehand, he should have texted us long time ago; since he likes to text so much. The fact that we texted him and got a reply just a few minutes later, makes us in doubt. It’s pointless talking about it though since we can’t change anything by complaining. We either stay or move. Still, it’s not the right time to move yet.
Hopefully, I won’t be talking about the same thing one year later!
It’s been a while and I am still thinking whether or not to purchase and install Mac OS X Lion. It’s a tough decision for me because I am not a heavy user and I wonder if those 250 functions really useful to me. On the other hand, the price at £20.99 is great and the Launchpad and full screen window are very attractive. For me, I like new stuffs but not before it has been tested and proved to be having no major problems. Conflicting enough, there are Mac users who love Lion and there are others who hate Lion. Well, love and hate are quite distinct and there seem to be not many stand in between when it comes to Lion.
I do hope when I finally decide to install it, I will love it.
Currently, I don’t have many programs installed. However, I still worry about the compatibility of the programs with Mac OS X Lion. Maybe I am the type of person who worries too much. I tried not to think too much but sometimes, I just can’t help it.
I am not sure why and when; I have lost the interest in customising things like my mobile phone, desktop wallpaper, desktop colours and fiddling with the settings. The idea of hacking and cracking is still very much alive in me but after the initial stage, I don’t follow up much later on. After using Macbook Air and iPad2, I am even more sure that I have lost that interest. I like simplicity now. Even though I jailbreak my iPad2, I didn’t follow any of the after jailbreak guides. By the way, I have just realised that there is a new Cyanogenmod release and I shall have to arrange some of my time to install it on my HTC Desire. It’s been like 3-4 months since their last release and I certainly hope that this latest release will fix some of the problems that I have with my HTC Desire running on the older Cyanogenmod version.
Just recently, I bought a Veho 360 rechargeable speaker at £5. I am still waiting for it to be delivered by Play.com and it has been 11 days since I placed the order. The website states its status as Awaiting Stock while the product page itself says Usually dispatched within 4-5 days. I wonder if I should contact the customer service about the mismatch information. I am not urgently in need to use the speaker and I just bought it because it’s cheap. I already have a 2.1 speaker for my desktop PC and I don’t think anyone would have regarded Veho 360 rechargeable speaker as a replacement for home speakers.
My idea is to hook it up to my PSP and play podcasts. Yeah, you are reading it right. I am using my PSP to play podcasts instead of playing games on it. Well, I suppose my iPad2 has really taken over as the main gaming machine. The huge 9.7″ just makes it irresistable though I have mentioned before that iOS games are still not as polish as true gaming consoles. PSP Vita is the one to watch and I was quite surprised when I found out that it’s only going to cost around £200 for a WiFi model only. I thought it was going to cost more being a Sony product especially PSP has so many enhancement over its predecessor. But for the time being, I am quite satisfied with iPad2 and iOS games are definitely cheaper than PSP Vita’s.
I haven’t been blogging on this blog for four days, which seem like quite a long time. Well, it’s quite normal though but this time, it has a good reason behind the delay. In less than a week’s time, hopefully, this blog will be completely overhauled as I am moving on. It is currently running on Flatpress and I shall convert it to WordPress. Thanks to a script provided by the Flatpress owner, I can easily export all my posts and import them in to WordPress. However, the categories cannot be exported and I have to find a way to relink the pictures. That shouldn’t be too much of a problem, I think.
Well, the reason behind all these fuss is quite simple. I have started paying for web hosting service with another company. With my current free web hosting service, I cannot host a WordPress site unless I pay a certain amount of money. That’s not too much of a problem but my current web hosting service is not that stable and I can only hope for the worst if I am still with them. By moving over to WordPress, I can manage my blog better and easier. One sad thing is that I will not be able to use my custom theme and I will have to settle with one of the thousands WordPress theme out there. I can make some effort in creating my own WordPress theme but it’s certainly not now.
